IT’S 280 miles from Cinderford to Newcastle and that’s the distance covered by swimmers in a 24-hour sponsored swim.
The 76 swimmers between them completed 17,702 lengths of the 25-metre pool at Cinderford Leisure Centre which equals 447,550 metres or 279.71 miles.
The swim was organised by Cinderford Swimming and has already raised more than £500 for Forest Pulse which provides a range of sports and recreational activities for children and young people with disabilities.
Jayne Wallace, a coach at the club, said: “It was a fantastic event with people coming together to support Forest Pulse.”
Ray Reeves, the manager of the centre which is operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of the Forest of Dean Council, said: “We were delighted to support Cinderford Swimming Club by hosting this event.”
