I RECEIVED an email warning recently that on further investigation proved correct. May I therefore through your letters column, draw attention to a money-making scam that is starting to appear in adverts, mainly small-ads in 'free to advertise' papers. They appear as offers that are almost too good to be true and end with a phone number starting 070. These cost around 50p a minute to call and usually are answer phones with rambling messages that keep callers on the line as long as possible to extract the maximum amount of cash.
