T'S not often I am reduced to shouting at the television, but on a recent Sunday (October 31), as usual I turned the TV on to BBC1 for the news, only to be confronted with the F1 Grand Prix from India. As I have no interested in motor racing, I moved to the BBC News Channel.

On this channel was also a programme from India. But this one told the story of a young child who scratches a living, (about 50 pence a day) on a rubbish dump collecting bottle tops etc using a magnet.

She goes to school one day a week where she receives her best meal of the week, all this provided by a charity.

This is when I started shouting at the TV. I pass no judgement on supporters of F1, or the millions spent on constructing this new track, or the massive amount of carbon generated by this sport.

But I do wonder if we have our priorities in order
