FURNITURE, paint tins and kitchen appliances are just some of the items cluttering a pavement in Cinderford – and a resident has had enough.

Fed up Michael Ogden said that since October he has had to look out at the mess which he claims has been fly-tipped by somebody known to the authorities.

The 52-year-old said he has made several complaints to the Forest of Dean District Council and Environment Agency about the rubbish in Valley Road but no action has been taken.

He said: “There has been a growing heap of rubbish outside the property on Valley Road by the roundabout.

“Living opposite this mountain of rubbish is not pleasant. We have to deal with rats invading our property, the abuse of people dumping rubbish when you point out that they are fly-tipping, and the generally unpleasant state of the area.

“We had a meeting in October with the council and Environment Agency when we were informed that the owner would be clearing the rubbish. Since then nothing has happened except the mound of rubbish has spread further along the pavement.

“Are no other residents in Cinderford sick of the sight of this rubbish and the lack of action of the council?”

A spokesperson for the Forest Council said: “I can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation in partnership with the Environment Agency to establish whether any environmental offences have occurred. If offences are identified we will take the appropriate course of action.”
