The apparent full stops define the end of each word.
In the picture of the postcard the last "pigpen"
character appears to have a dot in the middle, which
would equate it to the letter H. Without the dot it
becomes a G. This is either a mistake on the part of the
writer or simply a mark on the postcard itse.f

successfully worked out the shorthand message on the
postcard we published last week. The card had been sent
to a Miss Hawson who was living or staying at The Bear
Hotel, Rodborough, near Stroud. It read: Arrived home
safe and sound. Hope to see you again soon. Let me know
