A RUSTY old motorbike was retrieved from its last resting place on the cliff at Wintour's Leap.

A group of climbers tackled the debris that has been deposited on the part of the cliff known as the Easy Way Down.

As well as the motorbike, other scrap metal and bags of rubbish were taken away by volunteers.

Some volunteers abseiled down the face of the cliff to retrieve rubbish.

The clean-up was organised by the British Mountaineering Council and the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust which owns the land.

Members of SARA, the Severn Area Rescue Association, helped out and the Cotswold Outdoor store in Bristol sent along some help.

The rubbish was removed by the Forest of Dean Council which also provided the bags.

The BMC's Wye Valley representative Rick Sewards said: "We last did this very successfully four years ago but since then a fair amount of rubbish had accumulated in the area around the Easy Way Down and the foot of the crag."
