SPECIAL Officer Karen Fisher of Cinderford is set to storm the Brecon Beacons in a gruelling SAS challenge in aid of charity.
Karen, 31, will undertake the challenge in July to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
The event is organised by the same team featured in the BBC Two TV documentary series "SAS – Are you tough enough?".
Karen and other volunteers will be put through their paces over the course of a weekend on July 11-13, and the event culminates in an escape and evasion challenge.
Karen, a printer who has been a Special Constable for seven years, needs to raise at least £400 in sponsorship for the event, and said she was very excited about taking part in the challenge.
"My friends and family think I am mad for wanting to do it but they know the sort of person I am so they are giving me their full support," she said.
"I watched the SAS television series and really enjoyed it so when I saw an advert in the newspaper asking people who wanted to take part in the charity challenge I jumped at the chance.
"I go to Brecon quite a lot for walking anyway but obviously I am doing a lot more fitness training, as well as improving my map reading skills, in readiness for the event. I'm really looking forward to it."
Karen will spend the Friday and Saturday of the challenge weekend undergoing training, then on the Sunday she will pit her wits against some ex-SAS personnel with the aim of evading capture while checking in at designated rendezvous points.
If she is captured she will face interrogation.
