BUSINESSES in Cinderford decked the halls for the festive season as part of a Christmas window display competition from the town council.

Dozens of businesses in the town centre decorated their shop fronts with Christmas trees, tinsel, fake snow and more for the council’s festive competition.

Councillors judged the competition entires this week, with the winners announced on Tuesday (November 29).

First place was awarded to Vintage Rose Florist on Market Street, who put out an array of festive flowers, snowmen and winter wildlife.

Second place went to Grindles Coaches Ltd, who created a colourful display featuring reindeer, bells and Santa in his sleigh.

Carpenters DIY won third place, with a range of decorative Santas, polar bears and Christmas stockings on show.

Other entries included Slinky Inky Tattoo and Soapery, who created an impressive festive scene featuring soap-making elves and Father Christmas taking a bath.

Sleek Nails and Beauty displayed a life-size fluffy snow man, while The Roundabout Cafe and Tearoom decorated their window with reindeer and snowflakes.

Greenhill Coffee House also got into the spirit with an array of hanging baubles and tea lights.

The top three will now be presented with a trophy by the town council.

A spokesperson for the council posted on Facebook: "Thank you to all our wonderful local businesses who took part in our Christmas Window Competition.

"There were so many great entries that have made our town centre look very festive.

"Judging is now complete and the trophies are being engraved!"
