A TRACTOR was destroyed by fire beside a main road during the morning rush hour today (Monday, July 30).

Traffic was delayed as thick black smoke and flames billowed from the vehicle around 7am morning beside Gloucester Road in Mitcheldean.

No one was injured in the fire, which was put out by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue crews before 7.45am.

A fire service spokesman said: "Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Gloucester Road, Mitcheldean, at 6.57am. We sent a crew from Cinderford and a crew from Newent.

"A John Deere tractor was on fire. We used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus. The fire was put out and they left the scene at 7.44am.

"No one was injured in the fire and it is not being treated as suspicious.”
