AN animal sanctuary has given one of its residents the ultimate Mother’s Day gift - being reunited with her mum after six years apart.
Dean Farm Trust received Pudding, a beautiful two-year-old black pony, from a rescue centre called Horseworld, six years ago.
Mum Treacle had been rescued when she was in foal and was in very poor condition, and after being cared for she was also rehomed..
It seemed like they would live the rest of their lives apart, but recently staff at Dean Farm Trust heard that Treacle was back at Horseworld and they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to reunite mother and daughter.
Sanctuary staff and volunteers couldn’t wait to see if they remembered each other and they weren’t disappointed.
Treacle and Pudding sniffed and kissed each other over the fence, before running around together.
Sanctuary founder Mary Frankland said “It was such a special moment seeing Treacle and Pudding reunited.
“They obviously recognised each other, despite spending six years apart.
“Family bonds are so important to us at Dean Farm Trust, so we are all absolutely thrilled to see them back together.”
They are now spending some quality mother and daughter bonding time together, before they join the bigger pony family.
And Treacle and Pudding will be available to sponsor on the Dean Farm Trust website soon.
Dean Farm Animal Sanctuary opened at its Mathern base in December 2016.
Earlier this month it was hit by burglars who ransacked the office, but the trust is now looking to beef up its security through a JustGiving appeal at www.justgiving.com/campaign/DFTsecurity
