WHOEVER says that the local community has no appetite for these types of developments obviously hasn't asked everyone's opinions because they haven't asked mine.
As I'm sitting here in my living room writing this letter I'm looking directly out at the St Briavels wind turbine which is only about 50 metres away from me.
Watching it now high up in the blue sky it looks magical and majestic. To me it's a thing of beauty standing just at the end of my wildlife garden.
Right from day one I've been in favour of the turbine/turbines. Of course I had my concerns because of being so close. I was mainly concerned about the noise, but to be honest unless it's an extremely windy day then the massive structure is as quiet as my little voles and mice.
We must remember that this planet doesn't belong to us humans although we like to think that it does.
In 40 years we've done so much damage that I fear the damage is irreversible. OK so it might seem a bit far out but if we continue down this path of depleting the Earth of everything just for the sake of vanity then there won't be anything left for the next generation to enjoy like we have. So what if we have to look at fields upon fields of turbines? It's what we deserve after we've almost ruined the Earth beyond repair.
We've had our chance and we've blown it so now let's not be selfish and let's do whatever we can to save it for the sake of our children and their children.
