HAVING won the right to appeal last Wednesday (August 10) Two Rivers Housing Association's dispute with home-owners looks set to go to trial in October.
Meantime, in a series of fresh developments:
• The Two Rivers Housing Fighting Fund Committee has appealed for Foresters to rally round and help raise funds to cover forthcoming trial costs. More in the Review as this campaign progresses.
• Tracey Ashford, the solicitor from Rowbis acting for the home-owner defendants in the case, has said the possibility of going to trial on a 'no win, no fee' basis is being discussed with the defendants barrister.
• Chair of Two Rivers Housing, Dr David Garnett, suggests in this issue (centre pages) that the Forest of Dean District Council should be persuaded to provide the estate management services.
Deputy Leader, Cllr Brian Robinson, responded saying: "When the council were landowners the council did pay for services. However as they are the landowner, Two Rivers Housing have responsibility for the areas they own. Two Rivers are a very important partner to us and we work closely with them to bring more affordable homes to the district. However, it would not be appropriate for the council to use council tax to maintain areas of land that we don't own."
