THE group Querkes of Faite are returning to Holy Jesus, Lydbrook Church, with their unique brand of popular music taken from the 12th to mid-17th centuries.
It is a welcome return for the five musicians who last time braved some of the worst weather of the winter to perform at Lydbrook.
Hopefully this Sunday's performance (May 22) will be in more clement conditions.
Querkes specialise in period music, bringing with them a wide selection of period instruments and, while not serious re-enactors, like to dress 'appropriately' to fit with the style.
Flautist, Sarah Waycott, says the music they perform ranges from the quietly spiritual pieces which are thought to have originated from early vocal church works through to raising the roof with the more up-tempo dances of the streets.
"Since their last performance at Lydbrook they have expanded their instrumental range again," says Sarah. "They are now doing more themed events including performing for the Sealed Knot and later in the year they will be the strolling players at the Battle of Mortimer's Cross as well as themed parties.
"You are in for a real treat and guaranteed a great night of entertainment with this group. We would really encourage you come a long especially if you have never been to a musical evening such as this."
Tickets are available on the door and the concert starts at 7:30pm.
