POLICE Constabulary have issued an appeal for 'vigilance' by parents and children following two incidents, described by police as 'suspicious', where boys were approached by a man.
The first incident happened in Morse Road in Ruardean, when two boys were approached by a white male, in his 60s, with a bald head. He was driving a navy or dark blue car – possibly a people carrier - and stopped to speak to the boys at around 5.15pm last Thursday (September 19). Winding down his window he said: "Hello my boys", before the youngsters ran away.
The second incident occurred in Lambsquay Road in Milkwall the following Saturday (September 21) when a car, described as old and red with a cream stripe down the side, stopped next to a boy on a bike.
The driver, described as white, elderly, and of slim build with a shaved head, asked the boy where he was going. He replied that he was cycling to Coleford.
The man, who was wearing a grey jumper with a diamond pattern on the front, then drove away.
In a statement, a police spokesman said: "Inquiries are ongoing but police are urging children and parents to be vigilant, and visit the Kids Aware section of the Gloucestershire Police website:http://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/">www.gloucestershire.police.uk/ kids_aware."
Police have asked that anyone with any information about either incident should call 101, quoting incident 306 of September 19 (Morse Road), and 373 of September 21 (Lamsquay Road).
