A VILLAGE hall is under threat yet again after a further bout of vandalism left its chairman close to tears.
Mrs Denise Hogan said she felt a mixture of anger, frustration and dismay after finding Lydbrook Memorial Hall strewn with broken bottles, cigarette ends and graffiti.
It was the second time in a week youngsters had broken into the hall.
"The first time they were actually caught on the premises when there was no serious damage. But someone broke in again later in the week and left it in a terrible state. It looked as though it has been let derelict for six months," she said.
Mrs Hogan said her aim was to try and keep the hall as a valuable asset for the village.
Groups who hire the facility had to cancel last week causing more loss of income.
"We just haven't got the money to keep carrying out repairs. It's two steps forward and three back and it just can't go on," she said.
Mrs Hogan said her greatest fear was that the committee would reach a stage when it became impossible to keep the hall in a satisfactory condition.
"It would be tragic if we had to board up the doors and hand it back to the Charity Commissioners," she said.
