A GLORIOUS autumn day attracted people from as far as Malvern and Bristol to the third annual Bark For Life.

Unseasonal temperatures and warm sunshine on Sunday morning attracted 55 dog owners and their dogs to Speech House for a three-mile walk to raise more than £2,800 for Cancer Research UK.

There was also a mini dog show and homemade refreshments.

Senior local fundraising manager, Relay For Life Cancer Research UK, Lynne Garner said: “Bark For Life was brilliant. The weather was superb and the forest was exceptionally beautiful in the warm November sunshine. We held a canine/human raffle with some great prizes, all of which were donated by very kind individuals.

“People came from as far away as Malvern and Bristol and absolutely everyone said what a great day it was. I am overwhelmed by the support received from ‘The Kennel Club’, friends from far and wide, and the amount we have raised to beat cancer sooner.

“I must thank the Speech House for allowing us use the pavilion and field.

“Bark For Life is a fundraising event honouring the life-long contributions of our canine friends. Owning, caring and walking a dog is a joy – a friendship like no other, but our dogs are also a source of great comfort to us when we are ill.”
