MEMBERS of Cinderford Baptist Church commemorated two significant events with a display of artefacts.

The exhibition, which is open again on Friday and Saturday, commemorated the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Among the displays was one based on remembrance for members of the church who served in the two world wars.

It features knitted poppies created by the ladies of the keep fit group which meets at the church.

There was also a recreation of a trench and an air raid shelter created by Chris Hughes.

Church secretary Joan Rodway said: "We are very grateful to everyone in Cinderford who lent us material for the displays.

"It turned into something far larger than we expected."

The exhibition is open between 10am and 5pm on Friday and Saturday at the church in Commercial Street.
