FROM late summer until now councillors Glastonbury and Winship and myself have been contacted – and quite rightly so – by residents with concerns over alleged serious anti-social behaviour surrounding a property owned and let by Two Rivers Housing Association in the area we represent.
The problem continued to worsen and on November 11 the two district councillors and myself decided to independently contact the chief executive of Two Rivers in order find a solution to a problem causing considerable distress to a significant number of people.
On November 12 I received a cursory acknowledgement which stated that someone from Two Rivers would be in contact over the situation. To date, December 9, there has been no further contact. Councillor Glastonbury had not even received an acknowledgement !
If I dare to make any derisory remarks about Two Rivers or criticise them what I can be absolutely sure about is that they will very quickly register a complaint about me to the county council as they did in May this year when I was trying to help other people I represent.
So, rather like the Premiership football manager who has endured another abject display by a referee, I will maintain a diplomatic stance rather than risk the wrath of the FA and face being consigned to the stands!
They quite obviously do not like the involvement of democratically elected councillors who are merely trying to help people maintain their quality of life
– County councillor Alan Preest, Lydney.
