NOVEMBER 12 was a great day if you like walking in the beautiful English countryside. A parliamentary bill to open a path around the whole of the English coastline passed into law.
Wales is also creating a coastal path, Scotland passed similar legislation way back in 1973. It will eventually be possible to walk around Britain's 9,040 mile coastline.
It is now nearly four years since the 'Tack' Severn foreshore was closed off by fences.
It has been a very long time since anything has been heard about this issue. Nothing has been heard from our elected representatives on the local council, nor from the Gloucestershire county environment directorate.
All those local people who submitted written evidence to the Lydney Town Council (way back in 2006) must, like me, be very disappointed that the Tack remains closed to anyone who wants to enjoy the simple pleasure of walking alongside the tidal river Severn
