SINCE the arrival of the new council tax bills I have lost count of the number of times that one specific question, relating to the 11.4 per cent increase in precept attributable to Lydney Town Council, has been posed to me.
Nothwithstanding, the actual monetary value involved, and, by means of a polite and respectful request on behalf of the people of Lydney – could Lydney Town Council please explain, in these worrying times, how they can justify such an inflation-busting rise, and what improvements in service/performance can be expected as a result? – Alan Preest, Independent County and District councillor, Lydney.
