LYDNEY area's Cubs and Brownies have been decorating coloured pennants which will help to form part of the Fairtrade Showoff Campaign's longest bunting bid.

The decorating event at Lydney Christian Fellowship in Swan Road was organised by Churches Together in Lydney, and anyone could drop in on Saturday and take part.

The National Fairtrade Fortnight plan to create the longest-ever bunting will collect pennants from all over the country and piece them together for a record attempt later this year.

The current holder of the longest pennant record in the Guinness Book of Records is Millbank School, Cheshire, with a 2,737.72m string of flags.

Organiser Rev Pat Cox and other helpers were on hand to keep the production line going.
