COLEFORD'S new 'Community Enterprise Centre' being built at a cost of £2.5m has already been called lots of things – but how should it be known in future?
The present title is a bit of a mouthful, says a county council spokesman.
So local people are being invited to come up with something better – and the winner will pick up free tickets to a film of their choice at the town's Studio Cinema.
The centre, being built at Old Station Way, is expected to be completed next January.
The ground floor will house a new library and day care centre for adults with learning disabilities, and the first floor will be a new youth centre and include a hall which will be available for community use.
There will also be offices and meeting rooms.
An entry form for the new name competition can be found at http://www.coleford-area.org.uk">www.coleford-area.org.uk and the closing date is September 25. Entries must include, in no more than 25 words, an explanation for the name.
Entries can be emailed to [email protected]">[email protected] or delivered to Coleford Area Partnership, 18, The Annexe, High Street, Coleford GL16 8HF
Local county councillor Terry Hale said everyone involved were doing all they could to make residents feel part of the project and to take pride in it.
"This competition gives people the chance to give it a new name and I would encourage people to get involved," he said.
Within a month of the new centre opening, the old centre will be demolished. It will be replaced by mixed-use housing.
