LIAM Fox claimed a hat-trick as title-chasing Aylburton put six past strugglers Minsterworth Reserves.

Rovers currently sit two points behind Division Three leaders Ruardean United but have five games in hand.

Rovers had to field a "mix and match" side with club captain Ben Mayo, Pete Huyton, Aaron Skelton, Anthony Cadogan, Ben Stokes and Lewis Fraser-Holland all unavailable.

The home side was 4-0 up at half and goals from Tom Denning, Anthony Potton and Paul Skelton completed the scoring.

Aylburton player-manager Neil Elliott was pleased with the performance but is taking nothing for granted during the run-in to the end of the season.

He said: "We're playing well but you still have to win the games. We've got to go to Ruardean."

This weekend Aylburton's attention turns to the cup with a FJ Pope Cup semi-final against Howle Hill.

They will be hoping to make amends for disappointment in the County Cup when they lost 2-1 in the semi-final to Minchinhampton.

Neil said: "We dominated that game but didn't take our chances so it would be good to get into a final."
