BACK in business and rising from the ashes of a painful collapse which brought football in Aylburton to its knees, the Severnside village club is once again aiming to become a force to be reckoned with.
The team vanished off the local football map last season.
Liam Fox explained: "We were in mid-table in Division 1 when things went wrong and everyone left. We didn't function last season but thanks to a lot of work from Rob Bendall the club was reformed for this season and we have done really well."
Now, he says, there is plenty of ambition.
"Our team is really too strong for the league we are in but you can only play what is in front of you. We have already won the Charities, beating Whitecroft in the final and they are three leagues above us.
"We have a real mixed ability team with some players who have come down from playing at a higher level and other younger players who are in their first season but making a really good impression."
It was Severnsiders v Wyesiders on Saturday and a comfortable win for Aylburton – their ninth out of nine starts.
A tremendous goal from 18 yards by Tom Hook put Aylburton on track. Liam Fox snatched number two. Dave Baldwin hit number three and Lewis Frazer-Holland wrapped up a workmanlike performance with number four.
Striker Lewis Frazer-Holland has been a force to be reckoned with and leads the list of top scorers with an impressive 16 in all competitions. Matthew Chandler is hot on his heels.
Looking ahead, Fox hopes Aylburton will consider fielding a second team next season.
"We already have 20 players signed on so it's a definate possibility. We are also looking to introduce a few younger players from the village," he said.
