A SQUAD of 32 cheerleaders travelled from Caldicot to Leicester to take part in a national competition.

And Galaxy Cheer didn’t disappoint in their last event of the season with six out of their 10 teams taking home division championship titles at Cheer City.

First on the mat was 11-year-old Faith Hillard competing in the pom solo division, who produced a solid and sassy routine to land first position overall.

Jess Hawke and Emma Yapp competed in the tumbling solo division with Jess taking the championship title in the senior division, and Emma coming a commendable fourth in the very competitive junior category.

Junior pom duo Carys Edwards and Evie Hanney were up next, competing very well under pressure and finishing second.

The group stunt team consisting of Lydia Fitton, Paris Lane, Seren Schartz, Kacey Jones and Izzy Lawson smashed their routine, hitting all their stunts with ease and were crowned division champions.

The rest of the teams were now under a lot of pressure to keep up this fantastic streak and they pulled out all the stops with some amazing results.

Youth level 1 and junior level 2 took home third place trophies and the junior pom, senior jazz, while senior level 3 team took home the first place titles.

Head coach Danni Pike said: “All the girls competed so well today and everyone finishing in the top four is absolutely amazing.

“All our teams showed fantastic team spirit and have made me so proud, not just with their results, but with their attitude towards everyone competing today.”
