OPENER Steve Roberts hit 85 as Cinderford set Bream a big target to win.

Roberts’s innings was peppered with fours and a number of sixes before he was caught by Daniel Millin off the bowling of Chris Farr as St John set a target of 222.

Steve Skelton added 20 and Chloe Skelton two, with 22 from Sam Baker before Daniel Kibble contributed the second highest score with 42.

The most effective of the Bream bowlers was Rupert Mitchell who took 3-25, claiming the wickets of Steve Skelton and Sam Baker with the ball and seeing Skelton caught by Dave Beddis.

There was also a wicket each for Lee Andrew Brooks, Farr, Mark Warby and Max Warby.

Mark Roberts took three wickets for the visitors including Bream opener and skipper Daniel Millin for 25.

The home side’s top scorer was Farr who eventually went for 68 off the bowling of Roberts.

Roberts also had Beddis caught for 26 by Steve Skelton.

Lee Andrew Brooks also scored 26 before he was caught by Grantley Sims off the bowling of Chloe Skelton.

There were also wickets for St John’s duo Sam Baker and Daniel Kibble.

And Bream’s innings finished with them 50 runs short of the target.
