Division One West

Huntley 156-6 (34 overs), Penallt and Redbrook 153-9 (40 overs)

----

STEPHEN Wood helped Huntley on the way to victory with three wickets and 42 runs batting at number seven.

The batting performance of the day was by Huntley’s Jack Layton who was unbeaten on 74, coming in at number four

Opener and skipper Graham Hyde gave Penallt and Redbrook a solid start with 40 before he was caught by John Green off the bowling of Wood.

The only other Redbrook players to make it into double figures were Cameron Lee who was caught by Neil Lewis off the bowling of Richard Bowman for 19, Matthew Spoor who fell lbw to Wood for 14 and Tom Bartlett who was caught by Ben Stroud off the bowling of Kris Abbott for 13.

Spoor got the visitors off to a cracking start, taking the first three wickets for a total of 11.

He bowled opener Bowman for a duck, had John Green caught by Graham Hyde for one and then bowled Kris Abbott for 10.

That brought Wood to the crease who saw a couple of partners go cheaply.

One of the two wickets taken by Geoff Eaves was the important one of Wood who he bowled for 42 but it was not enough to avert defeat.

The result leaves the visitors in fourth place and Huntley in seventh.
