Underwood SC returned to winning ways, edging out Severn Tunnel Non-Pol 3-2 thanks to a Josh Downing hat-trick to go third behind Undy.
Underwood's manager Danny Williams said he was pleased with his team's response after two defeats.
"I made a couple of changes in midfield to add a bit of bite," Williams said.
"We created a lot of chances but were unable to convert them. We dropped off a bit in the second half and Tunnel scored two good goals and could have had one or two more but although both sides had chances I think the result was about right."
Caldicot Town lost 1-0 to Chepstow Town thanks to a Chris Hooper goal and Blackrock Rovers proved too strong for hosts Chepstow Athletic, winning 4-1 to occupy fourth place.
