ROSIE Eccles became the first woman to box for Chepstow – and won a Welsh vest.
The 16-year-old outboxed her opponent on what was a great day for Chepstow Amateur Boxing Club at the Welsh Novice Championships on the weekend.
Dylan Ostler also won through to his final – which takes place next weekend – while Evan Phipps lost his final on points.
Rosie did "outstandingly well" in her first competition said Chepstow ABC head coach Terry Dymock.
She faced Holly Sheehan of Llantwit Major winning every round on the way to her victory.
Mr Dymock said: "She out-thought and out-boxed the other girl and at twice we thought the referee might stop it.
"Rosie kept her left jab going and she won comfortably."
Dylan Ostler, 14, won a competitive semi-final 11-10 on points against Jack Pinnock of Cardiff.
Evan Phipps, boxing in only his second competition lost on points to a tricky southpaw.
Mr Dymock said: "It was the first time he's come up against a southpaw."
