A CROWD of more than 300 people supported a game in memory of a footballer who died in 2015.

Today’s Longhope team took on the Longhope Legends for the first Longhope Legends Cup.

The match was held in memory of Wayne Clark, featuring many of his former team mates, and was also a fund-raiser for the club for the coming season.

The Legends side was captained by Wayne’s brother Tracy Clark.

The competitive game was played in a good spirit, but the current side eventually ran out 6-1 winners in a good run out before the new season starts.

The trophy was lifted by Wayne’s nephews, Rob and Steve Clark.

Music was provided by Sara Jeffrey who performed for more than three hours and the crowed also enjoyed a barbecue and bar.

The Clark family thanked everyone for making the day special and said Wayne would have loved it.
