MILKWALL Football Club welcomed dozens of players and supporters for the annual Liam Teague memorial game.
Liam was a former player at Milkwall who died at a very young age and a fund-raiser has been held every year for about the last decade in his memory.
Appropriately, the winners of the Liam Teague Memorial Shield were a team of young players, ABCDE FC which was made up of under-17s from Broadwell.
They beat one of the teams from Rank Outsiders 2-1 in the final to lift the shield. In a change from the usual format, the competition took the form of six-a-side and included some 10 teams from around the Forest.
Spokesman Craig Watts said: “It’s usually an 11-a-side but we decided to go for six-a-side to bring in more teams.
“It was a very good day with competitive matches played in a good spirit.”
As well as the games there was a fun day at the club with many attractions.
Another fun day for the club is planned for Bank Holiday Monday later this month.
