Whitehouse Press North Gloucestershire League Division One

Blakeney 4-3 English Bicknor Reserves

------------------

A HAT-trick for Joe Stephens helped push Blakeney into second place in the North Gloucestershire League Division One.

It was a depleted league programme on the weekend with most clubs in action in FJ Pope, Geo Sandoe or JO Roberts competitions.

At Blakeney, Brenda Meager got the fourth goal while a brace from Rian Stalley and one from Jack Stalley were not quite enough for at least a share of the spoils

Among the clubs that Blakeney leap-frogged were Redmarley, who lost 4-3 on penalties in the JO Roberts Cup second round after holding premier division side Harrow Hill 2-2 after extra-time.

Penalties were also needed at first division Viney St Swithins, where premier side Ruardean Hill Rangers won the shoot-out 1-3 after a 3-3 draw after extra-time.

Lydney Town A also progressed to the quarter-final of the competition with a 3-1 win over Whitecroft A and they will meet Corse and Staunton who beat Howle Hill 5-4 on penalties.

Mushet and Coalway booked their place in the last eight with a 1-3 win at Redbrook Rovers.

In the second round of the FJ Pope Cup, Bream Amts Reserves beat Littledean 5-1 while Viney St Swithins were 1-3 winners at Milkwall Reserves.

In the Geo Sandoe Cup second round, Milkwall won 0-2 at Ruardean Hill Rangers A, and Whitecroft A were 0-2 winners at Ruardean United.
