Berry Hill 41-7 Old Cryptians

--------

BERRY Hill made the best use of the biting wind to run in seven tries against a good Old Cryptians side.

The Hillmen are now 10 points clear at the top of the Gloucester One division with second-placed Old Elizabethans due to visit the Forest next weekend.

The visitors brought a large pack but Berry Hill dominated up front, regularly pushing the opposing eight back and opening them up.

Old Cryptians ran the ball well but failed to take advantage of having the wind with them during the first half.

Berry Hill went into the break 19-0 to the good and added a further 22 points in the second half as they used the wind to full advantage.

As well as seeing eight tries, the crowd also got to witness one of the rarest sights in rugby – a prop taking a conversion.

Not only did Dan Padgett score the try, he also added the extra points for the conversion.

Wing Rhys Chandler scored two tries, as did scrum-half Dan Harris and there was one each for number eight Michael Griffiths and full back Lee Hanson who also contributed conversions.
