ENGLAND’S senior team might have been “sent home tae think again” from Murrayfield, but there was no stopping their juniors, who included two Forest players.

Jack Bartlett of Lydney and JJ Tonks of Westbury-on-Severn helped England U18s hand out a 64-0 drubbing at the home of Scottish rugby, where the game was switched at the 11th hour from Stirling because of snow.

Drybrook RFC product JJ started in the back-row on, while Lydney RFC and Cinderford RFC tight head prop Jack was on the bench.

“The players were pretty excited when they found out they were playing at Murrayfield – it’s a big pitch and that suits the way we want to play,” said England U18s head coach John Fletcher.

Both Forest players have been part of the Gloucester junior academy for several years with the U15s, U16s and U18s, and reached the Premiership U18s Academy final earlier this month at Saracens against Leicester Tigers.

England completely dominated at Murrayfield, going in to the break 26-0 up and running out handsome winners in a 10-try romp.

Jack, who went to Dean Academy in Lydney, and Hartpury College student JJ will be hoping to be involved against Wales again this Sunday (March 25) at Pontypridd before the Easter ‘Six Nations Festival’, also in the Principality, where England play Scotland again at Ystrad Mynach on March 31, Italy at Cardiff Arms Park on April 4 and France at the same venue on April 8.
