A TEEN karate star proved a big hit at the European Championships, taking bronze against fighters two years older.
Broadwell Karate Club’s Jack Howe, 18, placed a brilliant third at the World Union of Karate Federations’ (WUKF) European titles in Denmark in the U21 category.
Coleford’s Jack, a Guardsman with the Coldstream Guards based at Wellington Barracks, started karate at the age of 10 at the Broadwell club under the tutelage of former international competitor Paul James 5th dan.
He has continued his karate training since joining the army earlier this year and was crowned inter-services champion at his first senior event in July.
Jack was then selected to represent England with the British Army Karate team at the prestigious international event in Odense.
Broadwell Karate club train Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Memorial Hall from 7pm.
