Soudley 3-1 Newent Town A

-------

SOUDLEY maintained their grip at the top of North Gloucestershire League Three with their 13th win in 13 matches.

But the leaders had to come from behind after going into the break a goal down to visitors Newent Town A.

Two second half goals from Robert Adams and another from Steven Cinderey kept the winning streak intact.

Second-placed Blakeney Reserves kept in touch with a 4-0 home victory over Ruardean United.

Blakeney are three points behind the leaders, but have played one game more. There is not much to split the sides in terms of goal difference, though, with Soudley enjoying a difference of 50, four more than their rivals.

Blakeney were ahead 2-0 at half-time with Lewis Frazer-Holland finishing the game with a hat-trick and Gareth Morgan being the other goal scorer.

Blakeney’s record is now 12 wins out of 14 games with two defeats.

Soudley and Blakeney now have an 11 and eight-point advantage respectively over third-placed St Briavels, who have also played 14 games.

St Briavels went down to a 4-2 home defeat to Rank Outsiders Reserves who are now 10th in the division.

Four of the game’s six goals came in the second half, with Joe Hale getting both the home side’s goals.

Martin Cinderey-Smith got two goals for the visitors and one of the other two scores was by Dan Stephens.

In the only other game in the division last weekend, fourth-placed Mitcheldean Reserves beat Weston 3-1.

Mitcheldean are ahead of Tidenham Reserves by virtue of a better goal difference – six compared to zero.
