J O Roberts Cup

Ellwood Reserves 3-2 Whitecroft

ELLWOOD Reserves booked their place in the final of the J O Roberts Cup despite having a man sent off.

They will face Westbury United who pulled off a surprise win at championship contenders Redbrook Rovers to make the final.

Ellwood’s Mark Wayman played a key role, scoring one of his side’s goals but getting sent off for a second bookable offence.

The sides had gone in level at half-time, a goal apiece, but while Ellwood got two more after the break, the visitors could manage only one.

The other goal scorers for Ellwood were Matthew Creed and Garry Wildin while Kurtis Locke and Matthew Timmins scored for Whitecroft.

Westbury have struggled in the North Gloucestershire Premier this term so the J O Roberts Cup offers the prospect of finishing the season with some silverware.

A first-half goal by Jerome Lee decided the game and sent the visitors through to the final against Ellwood who are currently fourth in the Premier.
