BLAKENEY leapfrogged hosts Rank Outsiders to go third in a game played in a good spirit.

The afternoon started in solemn mood with a minute’s silence to mark the sixth anniversary of former Blakeney goalkeeper Steve Chivers’ death.

First-half goals from Richard Dodsworth and Anthony Potton secured the points for the visitors to make it two wins from two.

The home side were always playing catch-up. A goal from James Risbey levelled the score but the hosts fell behind again.

Jamie Phillips and Nat Smith were replaced by Ryan Alexander and Stephen Davies, but they were unable to make a difference to the scoresheet.

Blakeney manager Andy James said: “It was a very good game and it was played in a good spirit. We played well and the referee had a good game.

“We’ve had some new players come in and there have been some youngsters coming through. We’ve had a good start to the season.”

Rank Outsiders now have a win, a draw and a defeat from their start to the 2018-19 campaign.

Elsewhere in the division, leaders Soudley made it three from three with a 6-1 win at Harrow Hill A with Robert Adams scoring four and Luke Harris hitting a couple.

Soudley have created a goal difference of 16 in their three games so far.

In the other games in the division, Lydney Town B played out a 1-1 draw at home to Sling while Tidenham Reserves secured a 2-1 win against Ruardean United.

St Briavels were in FJ Pope Cup action against Viney St Swithins Reserves.

The Wye Valley side strolled through to the quarter-finals with a 9-1 win.

They will face either Rank Outsiders or Lydney Town B.
