West Dean Charities’ Junior Cup
Viney St Swithins Reserves 2-2 Tidenham Reserves (Viney St Swithins win 4-3 on penalties)
------
VINEY St Swithins Reserves came from behind three times to eventually take the West Dean Charities’ Junior Cup with the last kick of the game.
Tidenham took the lead with a first half score from Craig Hanson in front of a large crowd at Lydney Town’s ground on Sunday afternoon (October 29).
Kane Sansom set up a frenetic run-in with an equaliser in the 72nd minute with the smart money on penalties to separate the two North Gloucestershire League Division One sides.
Tidenham had one hand on the silverware when Hanson doubled his tally with two minutes to go, but within 60 seconds it was even when Matt Saturley popped up to score Viney’s second.
Viney were on the back foot when their first penalty was saved after Tidenham had scored theirs after which an exchange of scores made it 2-1.
Connor Mullan brought Viney back into it when he saved Tidenham’s third and the match was back even after the next kick.
The next penalty would prove the turning point with Tidenham watching the ball clear the bar, allowing Viney to take the lead for the first time with the next kick.
Tidenham converted their final penalty to even the score at 3-3 but with the last kick of the game, Viney made it
4-3.
