GYMNAST Lily Brain has once again walked away as county champion at the Gloucestershire Apparatus Championships.

The 12-year-old member of the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club’s senior squad beat stiff competition from Fromeside and Rowan clubs.

Lily also won on floor and beam with her usual confident, expressive routines. She came second on vault and third on bars, a good all round performance.

Grace Treharne was delighted to win the silver medal in the Level 5 age 11 group. Grace had a resounding win on the asymmetric bars and beam and had an excellent overall score of 45.05.

Violet Williams, another of the club’s promising gymnasts, came second on vault in the Level 5 age 9 group narrowly missing a medal by coming fourth overall.

Charlotte Cottrell did well on bars coming second. She also produced a strong vault where she came third.

All the girls in the team competed well. The other members were Cara Charles, Bella Baldwin and Megan Crook.
