YOUNG gymnasts had a great day at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff in the first Welsh Men’s Challenge Apparatus Championships. 

The boys from Kestrel in Bulwark had to compete in a minimum four of the six apparatus.  

In the U10 novice section, Ted Watson took overall gold after finishing first on the parallel bars, third on vault, fourth ribbon on floor and fifth ribbon on rings. 

Third overall was eight-year-old Robin Kedward who won the gold on floor, bronze on pommel and rings, and silver on Vault, as well as finishing sixth place ribbon on parallel bars. 

Daniel Kucharczyk won gold on floor and vault, and was sixth ribbon on rings and parallel bars finishing fourth overall.

Henry French took bronze on parallel bars, and fourth place ribbons on vault and rings, to place fifth overall ribbon, while Charlie Jones had a good competition and placed seventh overall. 

In the U14 novice section, James Davies won gold on floor, vault, rings and parallel bars. 

Eight-year-old Brereton Trim, coming back from injury, did his very best in the Welsh Men’s 8 in year Preparation Grade, securing a good score of 8.1 on floor in fourth place, and 9.6 on vault in fifth place.
