LYDNEY boxer Chris Higgs won his latest bout in Newport by 40 points to 36 points over four rounds.

Higgs, who the day before weighed in at 10 stone 9lb, led every round against the 6ft 1in tall Jerome Samuels, 11stone, at the Newport Centre.

The fight was originally scheduled for six three-minute rounds.

Because of Samuels' long range Chris had to take the fight to him in every round, said his father Bryan.

"It looked as though the ref was going to stop the fight in the third as Samuels was taking some heavy blows."

The support was an amazing again for Higgs, who will now be fighting again on September 18 at Swindon.
