AN 11-year-old schoolgirl is taking aim at top sporting success by training with GB’s 2012 Olympic pentathlon coach.

And Abi Agami, a Year 7 student at John Kyrle High School in Ross-on-Wye, has fired her way to the national finals of the British Shooting Schools Pistols Championships next Wednesday (January 16) with a personal best at the West Midlands regional champiinships in Shropshire.

Abi has been shooting from the age of eight and for the last 18 months has been training with the London Olympics pentathlon coach with great results.

The regional event, at Ellesmere College between Chester and Shrewsbury, consisted of 20 shots at a distance of 10m, with Abi scoring a PB of 167 and qualifying in fifth out of 48 in the Year 6-8 class to win a place at the National Finals in Stoke Mandeville.

Abi recently shot two qualifying rounds and was called to shoot on the Commonwealth Range at Bisley.

She was the youngest out of 86 adults and children, and placed ninth, which was a phenomenal achievement as many of the other schools competing run shoot training or have close associations with local shooting clubs.
