IT was a day for the bowlers as Lydney were overcome when Cinderford St John claimed their first win of the season.

The two sides managed only 141 runs between them and 48 of them came in extras.

The performance of the day was by Cinderford's Mark House who was top scorer with 24 runs after coming in at number four.

He also picked up four wickets for seven runs in 10 overs of medium-fast bowling and claimed two catches.

Lydney won the toss and put the hosts into bat with medium-pacers Peter Glyn and Jamie Blake set about their task.

Glyn finished with figures of 41-4 and Blake picked up 3-11 in their 10 overs as Cindeford were restricted to 88.

Lydney also had an unproductive afternoon with the bat as House and Jordan Warren tore into the visiting batsmen.

Warren finished with 3-11 as Lydney fell well short of the target – captain Ed Jones the only visiting batsmen to make it into double figures, finishing with 11 runs.

This was the first time this season that Cinderford were able to field their strongest side and the result lifts them from the foot of the table.
