TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Jack Richards from Broadwell Karate Club proved to be one of the top fighters in the country at a recent competition.

Jack represented the Western Karate Union (WKU) in this year’s English Karate Federation National Kyu grade (coloured belts) championships at Ponds Forge international sports centre in Sheffield.

He proved himself to be one of the top fighters in the country for his age group, winning through several rounds of competition to reach the final where he was narrowly beaten by last year’s winner to take home the silver medal.

Jack trains at the Broadwell club and also goes to Bristol where he trains under squad coaches Alan Flook 8th Dan and former world karate champion Rory Daniels.

Paul James at the club said: “We are very proud of Jack. We always welcome new recruits and they can contact us on 01594 837336 or through our club’s Facebook page.”
