CHEPSTOW Town's top scorer, Jason Thorn, was named the club's players' player of the year.

Jason banged in 48 goals in 28 games as Chepstow ran away with the Gwent County first division title.

Andrew Wenzil was manager's player of the year while the most improved honour was a tough call between Karl keeper Bayton, midfielder Richard Stansfield and defender Jack Harvey.

Manager Russell Griffiths said: "Jason has scored 48 goals in 28 games and at this level that takes some doing.

"If we can keep hold of Jason I will be really happy – he bangs in goals for fun and in my opinion is the best striker around this area.

"He has pace, skill, an eye for a goal and will work for the team aswell.

"Andrew Wenzil was my rock at the back, the lad has class.

"He can play the ball and tackle. Has a quality attitude and what stands out is the way he reads the game, he sees things a lot sooner than anyone on the pitch so he's always at the right place at the right time."

"Most improved was a reward that I brought in this year to acknowledge three lads especially that had improved big time. I couldn't choose one so I named the three players.

"Karl Bayton, Richard Stansfield and Jack Harvey had all upped their games.

"Two were with the seconds last year but really put in some performances this year for the firstt team.

"I put this vote to my three coaches to vote between and the winner was Jack Harvey.

"Jack really improved, I moved him from the wing to a more defensive role at left back and he had a great season.

"His attitude is also spot on and he listens to what you got to say and takes it on board."
