THREE adult beginners from the Apollo Judo Club in Drybrook successfully competed in their first competition at the Kidderminster Senior Championships.

Dean Jenkins, in the under-90kg class, won his first three fights to quickly progress to the semi-finals, and worked hard to progress to the final winning emphatically to get a gold medal.

Tom Cox, in the under-66kg group of five – all far more experienced than Tom – worked hard for his wins and gained a bronze medal.

Last to fight was Steven Taylor in the under-81kg tournament, who also fought his way to a bronze medal.
