BROADWELL karate club picked up several medals in the Welsh Bushi Kai karate championships at Bridgend recreation centre.
Maddison Price won first place in the junior girls advanced kata (forms) while Lauren Ruck became the under-12 girls Welsh bushi kai champion.
In the senior events, club coach Paul James took gold in both the men's lightweight and openweight black belt events while 17-year-old Rhys Hopkins scooped bronze in the openweight and silver in the cadet under-18 event.
British and Commonwealth champion Paul James volunteers at the non-profit making organisation. He said: "It was a great day for the club. We are always looking for new members and I would be happy for people to get in touch."
The group meet at Broadwell Memorial Hall on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm. For more information contact the club on 01594 837336.
