A KEEN Monmouth adventurer is preparing for one of the most extreme marathons in the world by standing in a pastry shop freezer!

Paul Fosh, of Paul Fosh Auctions, is competing in the Likeys 6633 Ultra Marathon next March which sees competitors travel on foot over 120 or 350 miles non-stop in the Arctic Circle. He hopes to raise £15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

To kick start his fundraising mission he invited Welsh wonder woman, Lowri Morgan to talk about her experience being the only person to cross the Likeys finish line in 2011.

The TV presenter gave an insight into what to expect at a charity fundraising lunch and auction at Swalec Stadium in Cardiff, which raised more than £4,500.

The 48-year-old auctioneer was given a lot to think about and has been acclimatising to the extreme cold conditions he faces in a pasty shop freezer.

Paul said: "I am in no doubt that the event is tough and Lowri re-emphasised the fact in her very thoughtful, honest inspiring and revealing talk. I am now even more determined than ever to complete this event."
