IT'S the sort of start clubs dream of...two wins from three games to cement a view that the winning side here can really cut the mustard in the County League this season.

This was a tough challenge for the Foresters. Both teams were within touching distance of each other at the end of last season and this was a serious test of one-upmanship. First blood then to Ellwood!

Marginally on top in the early exchanges, Ellwood played with increasing confidence and took the lead on 11 minutes when Julian Addis cleverly played in his brother Matt for the opening goal.

Ellwood composed themselves quickly and within 60 seconds had scored again. This time Daryl Addis was the provider. With immaculate timing he laid the ball back to Dan Mason who was prowling on the edge of the 18 yard box. His powerful strike evaded a packed goalmouth, including the 'keeper, for a fine goal.

Any thoughts of a cakewalk quickly diminished as Henbury won a succession of corners and free-kicks. On 25 minutes Jack Mills, the receiver of a fine pass from Gary Clarke, lashed the ball past Ellwood's Dane Adams. It was game-on again!

Two more chances fell to the visitors before Ellwood, now playing with much greater concentration, created chances for Matt Addis and Greg Rutsch.

Ellwood's stubborn defence became increasingly resolute and frustration began to take its toll resulting a Henbury player being sent off for a reckless challenge. Deep into injury time Henbury were down to nine as a second player talked himself into being shown a red card.

Victory then to Ellwood, who overcame strong opponents and will now be keen to build on a good start and maintain their position in fourth place.
